I would consider the BLUESKRIEG CD launch party last night (Saturday, November 25, 2006) a smashing blues music and Pinoy rock affair - great music, great bands, great vibes. Here we are with a CD of Pinoy blues songs and music - 11 years after the first and only BLUESKRIEG concert at Club Dredd in 1995 - this is a Pinoy blues music revolution - the soldiers are the brave Pinoy blues bands featured in the Blueskrieg CD - the battle is for the Filipinos hearts and minds - that the music will be appreciated and understood. At the launch party last night - it seems we won a handful of hearts and minds!

We truly had a reason to celebrate last night - there was just so much time and work that went into the making of the BLUESKRIEG CD - from the recording sessions, harmonizing all the schedules of five different bands to the mixing sessions, to the mastering sessions, to the CD packaging and art design - a LOT OF WORK. Thanks to May Diwa for her all out support for this project. Thanks to all the guys at Sound Weavers who helped make it happen; Mon Reynera, Doff Sandigan, CJ Salonga. Thanks to Joric Maglanque for facilitating this project into such a quickstart from idea to reality.

Come the first week of December, the Blueskrieg CDs should be available in most major record stores like Odyssey, Tower Records and MusicOne. Tell your friends, tell your parents - they will surely find a lot of songs to like in the CD. And tell the kids - this is music for the soul.

Pinoy blues music is back on the road people and hits the 6 Underground bar in Makati. This is where everything and everyone meets, a night of blues and music from the Philippines foremost blues-based and blues-influenced bands and artists.

OPEN MIC BLUES JAM after the regular set - bring your stick, dobro, tele, tube amps, tube socks, harp, and even a Hammond B2 organ. It’s going to be a blast of a jam. Did anyone request CROSSROADS already?

6UNDERGROUND Bar is located at Palanca St, Legaspi Village, Makati City (former Kalye bar). Show starts 10pm.

The second record release of Rebolusyon Rekords is entitled BLUESKRIEG. It is now in the final mixing stage.

The CD cover design and packaging is also being finalized. The target in store release date is first week of December.
BLUESKRIEG is a compilation CD featuring five (5) Philippine bands playing blues-influenced/blues-based music, Original Pilipino Blues Music. The featured bands are (in alphabetical order) :

• DAHON
• FIREBOTTLE
• KULUKATI
• PLUG and
• SNAKECHARMER

BLUESKRIEG contains fifteen (15) original songs that arguably cover the wide gamut of blues music varieties, from standard 12-bar blues, to soul/rnb tinged blues, to classic rock, southern rock, country rock style blues to modern heavy blues based rock…

There was an advanced listening party cum blues night gig at Conspiracy Bar last Nov. 4 - overall the reaction to the songs and mixes were quite positive - just a few enhancements, very few rough edges. Click here for commentary on the  performances that bluesy Saturday night in Quezon City.
The BLUESKRIEG term was coined by Gerry Diwa in 1995 for a blues night feature concert in Club Dredd, the hotspot for original music back in those days.

Watch out for the BLUESKRIEG CD and related activities. The launch party is on November 25, 2006 at 6Underground in Makati. All five (5) BLUESKRIEG bands will be there with special guests THE BLUE RATS. Watch out.

After months of hard work, Eyescream’s debut CD “Memories” is now officially out. Containing 10 original songs composed and performed by the band Eyescream, the Memories CD is available for purchase at all Odyssey music stores in Metro Manila starting Wednesday Oct. 31, 2006.
Eyescream’s “Memories” debut CD is distributed by Vicor Music Phiippines - if the salesperson at Odyssey doesn’t know about the record yet - ask for the Vicor salesperson. Eyescream is spelled E-Y-E-S-C-R-E-A-M.

“Memories” is Eyescream’s debut music CD - it is also the first CD release of Rebolusyon Rekords. And its coming to record stores real soon - most likely by the 3rd week of October, 2006!

Memories is full of nice songs - a great sounding record that documents the music of Eyescream in 2006. It is hard to categorize a band’s music but the songs are very accessible - easy to remember - easy to bob yer head to. Pop/rock, Emo, melodic punk, those were the music genre/terms that folks who have heard the record came up with. I don’t really know. All I know is the songs are kick-ass. Simple. Groovy. Kick ass.

Epoy Quipse’s voice stands out - giving life and meaning to the Eyescream songs. Eyescream’s sound on this record should be pretty unique to the current Pinoy rock music scene - FRESH - and a listener will know that its Eyescream when they hear an Eyescream song. You have to hear it to believe. And that’s my opinion only, anyway, ok?

Please support Philippine music by buying original music CDs only.

In the meantime, watch EYESCREAM perform live at the RAKRAKAN CLUB TOUR events this October - experience their songs in person and witness a powerful performance before this group explodes in the mainstream.
